Butter Project is a forkable video streaming app that's geared toward delivering programming content. Users can watch instructional videos, communicate with others and upload their own content to the service. While it's made with developers in mind, there's no reason that you couldn't use Butter to show other types of videos as long as you either own them or made them yourself.

Those who want to learn more about different coding tasks should find quite a bit of content here to teach them whatever it is they're curious about. The app is reasonably comprehensive, and those who feel it's lacking a certain feature are free to write their own as the entire API is published as is all the code from the original install package.

Since Butter is relatively modular, it's possible to take parts of the program and build other software on top of it. Those who are interested in making their own streaming apps may want to download it simply to experiment with it.

They could also eventually take certain modules from it and distribute it inside of their own program. While this takes quite a bit of skill to do, it's an excellent option for those who have been working to develop a video streaming platform and need to figure out a jumping off point.

Users have uploaded quite a bit of newer cinematic content to the platform, which should help to attract a moviegoing audience that wouldn't otherwise normally want to use this kind of program. Once they get it installed, they might never even have to think about the app's programming-based community.
